Thursday and friday last week we had a group workshop; discussing, drawing, sketching...trying to pinpoint something of importance to our projects, which can be hard to do... Clearifying your project without all these words!! The key words (for my project) after the discussions are; TIMELINE / SCENARIO ECO-FOOTPRINT THE PHYSICAL They need further development but these are the sketches made as the background for my project (so far);
hey laura, good to see that you are starting to clarify your project! a few comments: - LOCAL PROGRAM and DENSE instead of putting general terms like work, home, recreation... here you could look at your research on sustainable living and propose how these activities (recycling, using storwater, growing food etc) can generate work, play, living etc on your sites.
- why not use the "The Heart of the City and Strawberry Creek at Center Street Project"as a model and apply it to your site to analyse its potentials here. use this to develop your program:
#Create opportunities for people to gather and engage in civic life and activities #Encourage and support buildings that utilize sustainable design principles, including solar energy, rain and stormwater catchment and treatment, and other “green” design practices #Increase current City stormwater capacity #Automobile dependence and transportation alternatives #Pedestrian streets, public space, and street design #The need to demonstrate effective ecological design, materials, and methods #Education and outreach to the community #Advanced and innovative watershed and stormwater management models #Sustainable public infrastructure improvements #Linkages between environmental restoration and sustainable development
- stick to your local footprint, bergen rain/ stormwater, light rail/ less cars, walkable/ bikeable distance to kindergarten/shops/ activities, local gardens/food/seeds/actionism ideas and dive in!!!!
Thanks Vibeke! So nice to see that you follow my work and finally someone has commented! Am preparing landscape model and will start the scenario investigations sooooon! Talk soon, laura
YOUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT, URBAN PLANNING FOR A CHANGING WORLD and URBAN AGRICULTURE. Somehow they are connected and through this blog I will try to show how, and consequentially of this connection, why the ideas and ideals around urban planning and governmental management needs to change...
DIPLOMA BAS 2010
This blog presents the continous work of my diploma from 1st of feruary to 6th of august 2010. Examination will be finished 1st of september 2010 and then I will hopefully be a Master of Architecture. The task is urban development, in a sustainable perspective, along Bergen Light Rail (BYBANEN). Working in three situations I am hoping to develop some interesting scenarios.
